About Me

My interest in health and fitness started at the age of 8 when I used to sit in on my aunt's aerobic classes. This was back in the 80's (think lots of leotards, legwarmers and sweatbands). When I was in fourth grade, I used to hold mini "work-out" sessions for the kids in the neighborhood. Needless to say, the desire has always been in me.

My family had and still has, it's fair share of fitness and healthy eating enthusiasts, so it only makes sense that I followed that path.

I also have a love of the arts, and ended up getting my bachelor's degree in visual communications. Shortly after that, I married my husband and we started our family. After the birth of my second child, I decided to pursue my love of fitness and went back to school for health and fitness education. During that time, I became certified by the American College of Sports Medicine as a personal trainer. I have been able to assist in sports specific training camps, and shadow physical therapists. In addition to training apparently healthy clients in health and fitness, I also spent time studying and interning with a senior fitness center.

My certification requires that I continue my education for as long as I continue to train clients. I love learning and have enjoyed keeping up to date with current fitness trends and new studies. Some of the courses I have completed since my initial certification include functional fitness, fitness for seniors, health/wellness coaching, anatomy, kinesiology, program design and many more.
